Kansas City Chiefs tight end Jody Fortson recently visited the Ronald McDonald House in Kansas City to serve up meals and mingle with the families who reside there.
While there, he had an especially meaningful one-on-one conversation with 9-year-old Ethan Frisbie, who has spent a remarkable 267 days at the house. Ethan courageously battled leukemia for nearly a year, and is now cancer free.
During their chat, Fortson asked Ethan questions about his experience with football and how the players practice, while Ethan asked questions about the basics of the sport.
Fortson was deeply inspired by Ethan’s strength and resilience, and offered words of encouragement to him as he prepared to leave the house and return home to Melvern, Kansas.
As a token of appreciation for his visit, Ethan signed a Chiefs Kingdom flag for Fortson to hang in his game room. Fortson said he would display it with “pride” as a source of motivation.
